Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
