It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
